Itinerary:
Day 1 Thursday:
Arrive in Padang city. In the afternoon take the Ambu Ambu ferry go to Mentawai islands.
Day 2 Friday :
Arrive at Muara Siberut, take boat to destined accommodation. Check in and go to surf spot. Start surfing.
Day 3 Saturday - Day 7 Thursday :
Surf- eat –surf- eat –surf- eat- surf again and again ... sleep
Day 8 Friday :
Breakfast, surf, lunch, take the Ambu Ambu ferry to Padang
Day 9 Saturday :
Arrive in Padang city- drop out to air port.

We strongly suggest to all of our guests to be wise with the schedule of your arriving in Padang city. May we advice that the schedule of PlayGround Surf Trip Mentawai Islands package is made according to the schedule of public ferry “ Ambu Ambu”. Currently this ferry departs Padang to Muara Siberut only every Thursday afternoon. On the other day, the ferry leaving for another destinations in Mentawai islands such as Tuapejat and Sikakap. (if there is changes in Ambu Ambu ferry schedule , we will notify our guests instantly ) .Please check the schedule of your airline ticket first to make sure you’ll be arriving in Padang city by Thursday. Otherwise you’ll be spending more nights in Padang waiting for the ferry, but if you have extra budget to spent on transportation, then we can advice you to rent speed boat from Padang to Muara Siberut.

Mentawai Fast has now made it easier to access some of the greatest surf breaks in the Mentawai Islands in approx 3 hours. Located in the centre of town on the Muara River 30-45 minutes ride from the main airport in Padang. Mentawai Fast operates six days a week to Tua Peijat, Siberut, Sikakap and Sikabaluan.

UMA MENTAWAI
Mentawai Islands are part of the Province of West Sumatra since 1999 which is set into a district. The position of the Mentawai Islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean make it an amazing sea surrounded by nature and perfect for marine tourism. Mentawai has become one of the famous adventure destinations, cultural tourism, and marine tourism interest especially surfing surfers at home and abroad.
Mentawai Islands itself is a series of non-volcanic island where the cluster of islands is the culmination of an underwater ridge. There are four islands that make up the Mentawai Islands, Siberut Island, the island of Sipora, North Pagai Island, and South Pagai Island. Location of the islands are located off the coast of West Sumatra province is elongated and surrounded by the Indian Ocean.
Siberut is the largest island in the archipelago and the only one who has a regular cruise with the city of Padang in West Sumatra. District administrative center itself is at Tuapejat, the north island of Sipora.

Surf or surfing has become a tourist icon Mentawai Islands, even less so an international surfing competition was held here. At least 400 dots scattered surfing in the Mentawai Islands. When you visit the Mentawai it will be treated to the feel of an ancient civilization Neolithic era in which the tribes in these islands are not familiar with metalworking and farming, not even the weaving technique. So, you will see the cultural differences with the Minangkabau of West Sumatra in the land.
The majority of inhabitants of these islands are the Mentawai tribe which came from the island of Siberut with the amount of approximately 30,000 people. Every family in the Mentawai Islands of 5-15 people who live in villages and in the field near the forest which they worked. Mentawai own traditional houses known as uma.
Mentawai Islands have been around five hundred thousand years ago, but there are no clues or evidence of when people first arrived in these islands. Most of the population is still adhere to animistic beliefs and the rest Christians and Muslims.
